A Psychological Thriller Review
Issues 1 and 2
This week's book comes from Mad Cave, a publisher I haven't dipped too far into yet, but this one's got me intrigued.
If you love 90s psychological thrillers, this book is for you. The art is like if Jeff Lemire was a little better at drawing mixed with 1997. I get Fight Club, Primer, Severance, and even a little Office Space vibes. We follow the protagonist working from home whose job is working for the biggest corporation in the world spying on their employees to make sure they aren't homicidal in a futuristic dystopian setting. She is following Ted, the subject of our story who is facing some sort of psychology breakdown, or is he?
This book screams 90s with the evil corporation, evil trillionaire, Area-51 like aliens, slowly giving context through narration, and is the character crazy or is there a supernatural element at play trope?
I give it a solid B+ and would recommend adding it to your pull list!
